A frugal tip from Frugal Froggie-Remember to change your air filter

Hello A Mom's Rambles fans.  So honored to be featured on A Mom's Rambles blog today.  To tell you a little about me, I am passionate about helping people save money in their every day life.  As I find things that are beneficial to me in living a frugal life, I share them in hopes of helping someone else make an impact on their financial life.

As I change my air filter today, I thought I would share the value of homeowners changing their air filter on a regular basis.  The standard recommendation is to change your air filter every 3 months.  But it should be changed more frequently if your house has pets or smokers.  Having a dirty air filter decreases air flow making your air conditioner work harder to keep your house cool giving you higher utility bills or decreasing the life of your air conditioner.

About 56% of your utility bills are the direct expense of heating and cooling your house.  And we take them for granted until they don’t work.  There are lots of other ways you can help keep your house cool in the summer and warm in the winter without breaking the bank.  For more tips on keeping your air conditioner and furnace running their best, check out Energystar.gov.
