DIY Toilet Bombs

If you have hard water or limescale built up in your toilet this will get rid of it!

My toilet before using and after 1 week.

Cleaning the toilet is not on my list of things I like to clean, and it's probably not on anyone's list! This will make it a lot easier and leave your bathroom smelling great! (Yes, I'm a little embarrassed showing the world my before photo, but it's clean now!)

You'll need to grab a few things before you get started making the bombs:

  • 1 1/3 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup Citric Acid
  • Essential Oil
  • Whisk
  • Dropper
  • 1 Tbs.
  • Large Bowl
  • Medical Mask
  • Wax Paper
  • Baking Sheet
I got all the items I needed at Wal-Mart...

  1. Mix baking soda and citric acid together in a large bowl.

  2. Fill the dropper with essential oil.
  3. Add ONE DROP AT A TIME to the baking soda and citric acid while you whisk at the same time. If you add too much at a time it will all fizz away before you get to use them :(
  4. Keep do this until the mixture is moist enough to hold form. I use about 12-15 ml.
  5. Keep whisking the whole time or you will fizz it all away.
  6. Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
  7. After you get it moist enough to mold, take the Tbs or mold of your choice and pack it firm.
  8. Turn the Tbs. or Mold out on to the wax paper to dry.

  9. Let the bombs dry for at least 6 hours. I let mine dry overnight.
  10. Store them in a container with a lid.

***Keep out of reach of children and pets. Please don't let your pet drink from the toilet.

I have been using these for a little over a week, and have only used the toilet brush a couple of times!

Yes, it's a little embarrassing to show how gross my toilet was even after using "common" toilet cleaning products. YUCK!

Drop on in at let it do its thing!
Since we have six adults and two kids living in one house with one bathroom, I used these OFTEN! lol

About a week later, this is now what our toilet looks like! It even smells good too! (No other cleaning agents were used during this week, just the bombs.)

Enjoy!

  1. You are so brave to post pix of your toilet! I'm in a rental until July, and the toilet here needs some help. So I'll definitely drop a "bomb" in it. :)

  2. I will give it a try though the limescale in my toilet is at the rim of the toilet. I don't know how to get it to stay at the rim. Thanks for sharing
